Thread: Sakimoto x Naruke

    Default Sakimoto x Naruke

They're working on a DS game, RIZ ZOAWD.

Anyone familiar with her? The only game of hers I've played is the first WA and I quit it in 30 mins.

Nice to have her back after she disappeared for the Wild Arms series. Personally like her Tenshi no Uta main theme and think her work on Psycho Dream was fun.

Sakimoto manages to capture the atmosphere of the game with less bombast. I concede.

I finally got around to hearing her WA3 soundtrack, and thought it's better than I expected. I honestly thought I wouldn't enjoy it in the least given what kind of people were fans of hers. It sounded like the first Klonoa soundtrack in places, which is good.

Big fan of Ms. Naruke! While I've only played the first three Wild Arms games, I had to get all the soundtracks. I was sad to see her go, but I'm also very eager to hear what's ahead for her. Ms. Naruke working with Mr. Sakimoto will be awesome.

This quote made me laugh harder than I have in years for some reason...

At first seeing the topic title I thought they were getting married.

On a serious note, I liked Naruke's WA material. Haven't heard 2 or 3. But her stuff in WA4 was really vacuous. I know she's talented, but you wouldn't know it from that score.

Otherwise, it's a really really strange combination. I like strange combos though. I look forward to the results.

Given WA's western theme, it's susceptible to overt musical stereotypes that plague the series to this day. It's honestly pretty hard to get around. I'm scoring a game right now where the programmer asked for blatantly western-styled music. Guess what RPG I drew inspiration from? In the context of an anime RPG like WA, the stereotype just fits. I think it will be good to hear Naruke not have to compose within such a heavily stereotyped context. (obviously, I'm not familiar with her other work).

According to the TGS talk session, the first shipment of the game will have a promo soundtrack which contains 5 tracks composed by Sakimoto. Also, it's also indicated that Naruke's responsibilty is limited to the OP and ED themes.

For what it's worth, by that statement, I simply meant that she didn'tlook to me the type of the composers who could click with me.
