I don't see any MP3s on the discs. What are you talking about?

I'm going to order my copy this week. I'm a Mega Man X (Rockman X) fan and I was very dissapointed to find out that a soundtrack to Mega Man X 1-3 was never released. The only CD I found was the arranged one. When I played those games as a kid, I loved the music. So to see the first 6 original soundtracks released in one package is great!

THANK YOU very much to Cocoebiz!

I sold my Rockman X 1 to 6 collection and it was the first time I did not make back-up cdr copies. The fact that Capcom emulated the music from RMX 1 & 2 is beyond annoying. In fact, it greatly pissed me off.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's, Konami was releasing cd's with far superior sound quality to the RMX Collection. And that was 8 bit music.

Capcom is lazy or maybe my idea about the populace slowly accepting substandard sound quality has some merit.

Emulated? I'm not all that computer smart, but what does that mean?

I think the soundtrack is worthwhile.

To simplify, here it could mean downloading .SPC version of the soundtracks from the net and using "record to harddisk" in WinAmp to get the music ready to burn on CD, instead of the long process of recording it from the SNES hardware.

So it means not getting the original sound.

Then some say : "Damn why do you complain, the sound is cleaner when using emulation!" and some others say : "Hey emulation has the risk of not being correct and anyway even if the quality is better i want the original sound, the way it sounds on the console.".
I belong to the 2nd category.

To simplify dma's explanation further, it means Capcom didn't use SNES hardware to reproduce the music from Rockman X-X3. They had to use some other hardware/software to play the original music (such as the method dma describes, but it's not the only way).

I personally prefer the music to be in its original format as heard on the hardware (in this case a SNES). It brings back found memories of the games to hear them again in their original format. Not that I would turn down an additional remasted/arranged soundtrack (hint-hint).
Although this soundtrack is very good, I must say I am disappointed that there are some songs ommited from the CDs that appeared in the games and some songs are played with SFX in them (Zero from X2, Title from X2 & X3). I'd love to see more Rockman/Mega Man soundtracks, but they have to be COMPLETE with MUSIC-ONLY tracks (with possible SFX bonus tracks appended to the CDs as in the awesome Famicom Rockman 1-6 set).
