Not officially confirmed either, but who does expect a new Vanillaware game isn't composed by Basiscape, after Grim Grimoire and Odin Sphere, both of which audio-wise Basiscape produced everything for (as much as I doubt Kamitani is fully contented with their outputs :p)?

It's this trailer (http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/14989) which now makes me posting a thread. We can find instruments from Japanese traditional music (aka gagaku) here and there, but more prominently there is surely 'his' signature style which almost drowns them out! These cymbals sound familiar to you, eh?

I'd say you're right, it does sound like our man... at least from what little I can make out, the audio is so distorted in that capture. :p

I dunno, the cymbals sound kind of familiar, but i don't think it's Mitsuda.

It's not the cymbals that got my attention, but the way orchestral sounds are layered and the harmonies...

Well, after Mr.Maul listed this speculation up on his site, even the newly launched official Hitoshi Sakimoto website also copy-pasted it despite there being no confirmation. I'm curious about what will happen when Sakimoto (and Basiscape) turn out to have no involvement at all *shudder*

Meanwhile, we can see how good the relationship between Basiscape and Vanillaware remain, based on the latter's new work "Kumatanchi" (http://www.dmpl.co.jp/kumatan/) is scored by Kaneda and Abe.

The playable demo at TGS confirms the involvement of Basiscape.

The music hardly sounds like Sakimoto though. It's more like... loops from traditional Japanese music sampling CDs than anything. But given Odin Sphere also had such ambient themes, it's early to do it justice and it may turn out to be a very experimental work.
