Sakimoto works on GONZO's next anime "The Tower of Druaga -the Aegis of URUK". Airing is next spring.

I suppose the anime is based on the classic dungeon crawler game, right? Sakimoto surely can fit in this kind of project without problems.

Yep, Druaga is an legendary arcade game of the early gaming age.

The official site launched:http://druaga-anime.com/

Wierd that I should catch this news while reading a thread of a certain Tri-ACE game (which hires the same scenarist as this anime, incidentally) ;p

Sampler? Live orchestra? Chorus, symbal and bar chime are certainly from samplers.

Definitely all sample-based. I like it though!

Perhaps anime might be a new direction for Sakimoto? I've only watched a few episodes into Romeo x Juliet, but I enjoyed hearing the man's music outside of his synth environment. I'd like to hear more. :)

The music in the trailer is VERY good, with enough power and mystery thrown in. :D

I assumed the poor DVD sales of RxJ led to big cost-cutting, and the next GONZO project would be all around synthy, but Sakimoto eventually hired Eminence again. Sakimoto and this orchestra sometimes resulted in, well, stuff like Deltra Quest and probably Opoona, but I expect this will be a success.

After watching 4 episodes I'd say the music is quite subtle, which is probably because of the mixing. But the music still provides enough diversity and humor to set the stage of the anime (which is far from being serious as the trailer suggests...).

Also, it would be another solo Sakimoto effort (if not counting the arrangers/orchestrators).

For what it's worth, Sakimoto seemed to score the game as his second MMO project, but I don't have much time to play it. Nor does the soundtrack easily rippable as Fantasy Earth.

I also haven't watched the anime series at all, but if a couple of you are interested in this, maybe I could get a rip someday? (sylph, I love you)

The 2nd season will be aired soon.

I’m curious how much the number of the tracks has piled up so far, and whether the additional tracks were ever recorded with an orchestra or not.
