So I randomly caught the last 40 minutes or so of The Fugitive (Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones) on TV the other day and noticed a background track that must have directly inspired Sakimoto's "Vendetta!" from the Tactics Ogre OST. On the movie soundtrack by James Newton Howard, it's track 9, "Stairway Chase". I'd have to find a full-length version of the track to double check that I'm not going crazy, but I'm pretty sure I heard it. Amazon's 30 second samples for music tracks didn't quite get to the part I heard, but it does display a fragment.

Yay, someone finally noticed that.:D It's a famous alleged rip-off of Mr. Sakimoto.
Since by "Stairway Chase" you can end up thinking only 0:13 - 0:23 of "VENDETTA!" bears a resemblance to James Newton Howard, I'd recommend you're going to find "Helicopter Chase" instead because "VENDETTA!" is the rip-off of "Helicopter Chase" throughout the whole track ("Stairway Chase" has just the same motive). Also, I personally suspect on "Avilla Henya" and "Climax of the Graylands Incident", Sakimoto could be a tad inspired by "No Press" from the soundtrack.
However, I'm not accusing Sakimoto of plagiarism. This place is his official forum and for that matter, every composer can be blamed for some of his/her works having likeness to others'. If a composer shouldn't be inspired by others at all, speaking strictly, he/she can't release anything.
Then again, knowing such likeness is quite interesting. Of Sakimoto's albums, I also found the first half of "National Funeral" from Perfect Prince bears a straightforward resemblance to Händel's sarabande, but I think it's just an intended rip-off.
