Hello...well I'm also a member of another forum (GamingForce) and there is a thread about the sheet music for the FFX Piano Collections being wrong and some members went as far as to re-transcribe some of the pieces. Some members claim that the official sheets are completely wrong and have also found a book that was filled with transcriptions based on the recordings. Yet, I and a few other people believe that the official sheets were correct and it was the performer's (Aki Kuroda) decision to add articulations and tweak with the harmony/rhythm a bit. Personally, I think it makes much more sense than for an arranger (Masashi Hamauzu) to publicly release a whole album worth of sheet music with mistakes on each page of every piece.

Does anyone have any in-depth/inside info. regarding this whole thing? I'm not objecting to playing accurately to the recordings, but I believe that is unnecessary as the differences werent a matter of note intervals, but things like adding octaves, rolling chords, playing different members of the chords (5th, 7th) and slight swinging/altering of rhythms, which I would call modifications, not mistakes. I've played some of the pieces too and I'm making my claims based on 10+ years of piano experience and knowledge of music theory.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'll just say that in Baroque compositions it was a feature of sheets to offer a guideline upon which the performers could then improvise on. If that's done with the FFX Piano Collection as well it's actually raising in my scale of appreciation. =p
