Just thought it would be appropriate to post about the announcement of the Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra Original Soundtrack The Best album. The composer, if you are wondering, is Yuki Kajiura (again, from Xenosaga Episode II) and is going to be published under her contracted publisher, Victor Entertainment. On sale, July 12th.
Thoughts, anyone?

"The Best"
To me that implies it will be a cut selection, perhaps condensing the album release to only one disc this time around. Just a guess, though.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. It could possibly be only the movie scenes again, with a few in-game additions too. But for now, who knows.

Thanks for the news.
This is a definite disappointment on two fronts. One, Kajiura isn't very good, and two, this clearly won't be a complete OST by any stretch. Oh well.

I'd have to say she is a decent composer, she produces solid material and has an attractive style, but her efforts on Xenosaga Episode II were just plain mediocre. I mean, there were some great moments in there, but the whole time it just reminded me of 'anime, anime, anime', something which game music shouldn't be. Deb Lyon's voice and the whole similar music motif got awfully repetitive...

There's a trend these days that RPG is almost a movie in which you interact at certain moment. So maybe she realized that, hence the anime feeling about it :p

Kajiura is good if she is on Noir / Madlax / .Hack//SIGN mood, but otherwise her composing seems to pretty dull onetrickpony-style. But still, I have some hopes with this soundtrack, her score to Xenosaga II wasn't that bad, thought can't much remember of it.
Also about this Original Sound Best Track, according to cat.no, there's two discs in it, so we're getting two discs of the best tracks, or is this just some wacky naming scheme by Victor? :D

I assume the name tells all here, Razakin. Each Xeno game is usually larger (in musical terms) than the last, so until we actually play the game, we can only say that Victor is staying true to their word about it being a 'best of' compilation. :)
I'm not excited about this whatsoever. Surprise!

Are you excited by anything, anyway?
I just hope there will be some tunes by Shinji Hosoe on this album (if he did the in-game part)... otherwise, I won't like the "The Best" part of the title.
