There are so many OSTs out there that I've heard, want to hear or would like to hear that I get confused which is which, what I don't want and what I think I want and etc. Confused? Well, that's what I'm sometimes like.
For instants, I've recently been trying to track down the right 'Sakura Wars' soundtrack but, because there are so many, I've resorted to asking 3 various site forums and I've still not got a definate answer.
So much would be easier if you had sound samples on your site. This would also help for those, like myself, want to start getting into some new composer but are afraid of not liking what they've just bought having never heard any of the music and essentially wasted their money (I'd like to listen to more of Iwata' stuff but how?). Also, when some, like myself, are spending up to £100 for a single soundtrack, they'd like to know their buying the right one.
Would you consider samples in the near future?

Would love those myself! Really, I always have to download full tracks from FTPs to sample the music I plan on buying, since no one seems to like to add small clips online anymore. Oh well, whatever it takes to decide if a CD is worth the cost... :D

You might want to try some blind purchases, you know. Sure, there is a small chance you'll be dissapointed, but you could also come out pleased. This is how I've built a diverse selection and found some true gems along the way.

Dragon God is right. The chances of you actually picking out a 'bad' score is actually pretty low, taking in that you've done the research and associated with trustworthy reviews. I bought Ys I & II: Complete Works of Ryo Yonemitsu not knowing what to expect (all the info I had was based on praising reviews and the style of Yonemitsu) and I still love it to this very date.

I bought Enthusia OST because I heard the opening theme and Under A Blue Sky and I was disappointed of the rest of the 2 discs. So it means nothing.

I buy most of my soundtracks based on popularity and rarity :p And then there are those obscure ones that i literally blind purchase. Very fun! And if you continue to do that, you'll not only have one very diverse collection, but you'll sooner or later come across an unexpected gem!

I JUST BOUGHT THE PANZER DRAGOON D-RAM OST FOR £50!!! I've also bought the Star Ocean 2 soundtrack, Legend of Mana for £60, £20 for Sudeki (most regretibly) and I'm sure there are others.
I DO blind buy sometimes but, come ON. £30-£100 on a CD which we may not even like? Do you spend that kind of money often on blind buys?
I also bought the Tenchu soundtrack for £100, only to realize that half of the best tracks on the game aren't even on there. DOH!

my Enthusia OST was some kind of blind buy cause I haven't heard any of the other tracks. I don't like Jazz much, so I was disappointed. But the only blind ones for me were the Rockman Zero Remastered Tracks (all 4). It's Rockman, you know. I haven't played any of the Zero series. Damn, I don't regret my purchases though.
But if samples are available, I'd gladly use them wisely before buying (maybe that's a marketing move, not to provide any.... who knows.............). And maybe some have more money than others, so spending a random US 40$ is nothing. I used to be like that though... ;_; I've heard the music, it was great, so I bought it. bah I have extra money this month let's go for it !!

I'm sure you've tried lots of places, but trying sites like these http://www.animecastle.com/catalog/music/game-soundtracks/cat_sakura-wars-game-soundtracks.html where you can have a wide variety. If it's not the right one, what would it hurt to have the whole collection? I know what you mean though. I wish there were small clips. it seems that if it's not main stream, they don't bother with samples.

He's an imposter! Get him *picks up rake and fire torch and chanks "Burn, burn, burn"*
Seriously though, samples really get me to try new things. The Kameo soundtrack and Fable most recently (unfortunatly they ain't that good, but for £7-8 each it's not such a lose).
I hadn't heard the music to Panzer Dragoon Azel since I owned the game over 6 years ago, so I was a little reluctant to spend £100 on it at first. But then I heard the sample of 'Premonition of War' and I don't regret rushing to buy it straigh away.
I was also scared when buying the Guardian Heroes OST for the same price without hearing the music for the same amount of time (but I was lucky that, like Azel, the soundtrack has also quickly become one of my all time favs).
I think it's an issue for sample for promo CDs also. Who wants to spend £20/ $35 on a promo cd to find they didn't like the 4 odd tracks that were on it?
BTW, it's all good all of you replying and sharing views but I was hoping someone from the VGM store would respond to this.

Damnit... sorry... What makes you think I'm a "he" anyway? I'll quit offering suggestions. I've been burned at the stake now... ::sob::
That... for one... is why I joined here, to find valid places to locate Sound tracks and links. So teach me, don't condemn me... :)
Sorry I'm not the VGM Store...

I thought Fable wasn't bad. I did expect more from Danny Elfman... ugh Probably shouldn't have.

Sorry Miss Lizardess, it was a joke. And you're not the only one. Only about 2 months ago did I find out that GKworld sold bootlegs and because of that, I've got 8 bootleg CDs in my collection I need to replace.
On the Elfman thing, he only composed the main theme tune, the rest was by some Russell Shaw. At least that's how I've read it.
The music wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. Not after the Oakville tune. Same goes for the Kameo soundtrack. If you want to know my thoughts on Kameo then wait a day or two for my review to show up on Amazon.co.uk.

You should be sorry... :) kidding.
I'll look forward to the review. I'm interested in others' views, but I never base my decisions on them... I did read the russell shaw guy on there. I don't own it, I've just heard it, so I just assumed. the main theme was actually pretty good... the rest? eh... good for background music. :)

Samples are a good idea. I do not agree with the blind purchase idea. Buying soundtracks is expensive, and I do not agree with reviews all the time. I have bought a soundtrack based on mostly positive reviews, and I have been disappointed. I ended up siding with the naysayers.
That being said, Cocoebiz is currently a one-person business. There isn't enough time for samples to be put up. Also, if a whole song is put up as a sample, Cocoebiz likely needs permission from the publisher for that.

Yeah, I was quite amazed when I found out the enter site is hy Kahori. Quite amazing the work that has been put into it.
I do listen to the samples on 'Chudah's-corner' but there aren't that many as there are only samples for games that have been reviewed (that isn't many of the obscure and/or rare ones).
