Hey everybody,
Kahori and I have thought of this great idea. Why don't we have our own Competition? Kahori might be able to supply a prize for the winner.
But not only is the public benfiting from this idea but the team behind CocoeBiz is also benfiting because it would be a great advertising opertunity raising sales a certain percentage.
What does the public think about this idea? If accepted, I would advertise the comp on other forums including Chudah's Corner and Square Sound, two uprising forums growing more and more popular everyday.
I'll explain more about the comp in future. Untill then, I need your opinions, forum members.
I'll see you around,
Harry

It would be great to know first of all what the competition is all about.

The competition will be theme vs theme. You nominate your top 10 themes of CocoeBiz's supported artists, then you Post them on this thread. After a certain time period, nominations stop and I tally up the votes. Then I start the comp. I'll tell you more if its approved.

This is interesting for sure..
But its many ways to look at it.. Its good for bringing forth new talent, and the advertising is great for artists..
And it may also make Cocoebiz a popular place, but would it be popular for the right reasons then?..
Competition, should music be a VS. game?.. Personally I dont think so.. it kind of waters out the importance of music, makes it common to compose in competetive ways.
Many sites nowadays have these kind of things, makes people compose to WIN, and not in honest pure hearted way.
Another thing
Would it be a vote system?..
In that case, problems may come, people nowadays like to Cheat.. some people become members to vote for friends etc.
Many flaws in these kind of systems, should have sincere Judges that is fair in that case, and that know what their talking about, that doesnt have ONE certain standard they judge by..
That pretty much sums it up for me..
I PERSOANLLY vote NO for this..
But from another perspective, Im FOR it, But I wont participate..
If this is something many want, I stand by it..
But it may bring strange light on Cocoebiz, may draw attention away from what this place is really about..
Think about it well and either GO for it or CUT it haha..
Later man!
Dan

Although your against the idea, I still respect your opinion and your music :D
But I want to do it to promote the artists not to have a composing comp.

Hello all!
I want to explain more about this competition since Kahori wants to go through with it!
Here's what's happening: You, the public, will have a chance to nominate your Top 10 favorite compositions (Thats right, any composition) from CocoeBiz's hosted artists (So only compositions by Yasunori Mitsuda, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Masaharu Iwata, Kenji Ito, Koji Hayama, Ayako Saso, Shinji Hosoe, Manabu Namiki, Motoi Sakuraba and Noriyuki Iwadare) and then Private Message them to me to prevent influenced nominations. Please keep in mind that the higher the nomination is on the chart, the more points it will recieve.
An example of the chart would be like this:
1) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 30 points)
2) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 28 points)
3) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 26 points)
4) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 24 points)
5) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 22 points)
6) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 20 points)
7) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 18 points)
8) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 16 points)
9) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 14 points)
10) Track name / Composer name / Album name (Will recieve 12 points)
After a certain time period, the nominating time period will end and I will calculate the total nominations. The Top 128 compositions will get into the final competition.
Once all the calculations have been done, there will be 'Composition vs Composition' threads posted constintly over the next month or so. They will be poll and voice based voting, so you would chose your favorite of the two compositions and then post your opinion about it.
This is all that has been confirmed about this competition. It WILL go ahead sometime in the very near future.
Post your opinions and I really want Kahori to post hers as well,
Stay in touch,
Harry

Hello there,
I could find no better place to make my first post but here (I was referred to this site a little while ago through Fatigue but have only signed up to the forums today)
Personally, I am very interested in the competition and would like to voice my support for it; it will be nice to take part one such as this where some of the less mainstream composers have a good chance of doing well, as they are, in many cases, just as musically proficient as those who have received the most attention internationally. I do, however, completely understand LunarHeart's point of view, and I think it is good that votes will be made through a private message to avoid any bias occurances.
I look forward to being able to post more on the Cocoebiz forums.
Thankyou.

Hey Aevloss!
When the comp starts (which should be very soon), I am enforcing PM nominations, as like you said, to prevent bias occurances.
This comp is good for the forum also as I have seen many guests lately and it would be great if they were to sign up and participate in this small community

So, basically, we're nominating individual compositions off of albums by artists hosted by Cocoebiz?
Well, it'd certainly be interesting to see with the nominations people came up, and would give exposure to some lesser-known artists. I, myself, will probably be looking up these compositions and their artists to see what interesting things I can find.
Sounds like a good idea to me.
Just make sure to announce when it actually starts, alright?

Unfortunately, you won't be able to see other peoples nominations as seeing them would inspire peoples choices and they would make a lot of changes to their lists. You would have to PM your choices to me.
For now, I'm waiting for the green light from Kahori. Then it will begin.
