I don't know what everybody else thinks but Baten Kaitos is truly excellent. I don't know what inspired Sakuraba to do something entirly diffrent to his other fantastic work but its working. Keep up the brilliance, Sakuraba!

I don't think Baten Kaitos is his greatest work... To me, this is Star Ocean 3. Baten Kaitos is just some kind of "Star Ocean 3 2", without the complete orchestration. Baten Kaitos is perhaps a little more mature, but still, Star Ocean 3 is my favorite work by him. Because of the beauty of the orchestrated part and the power of the progressive one.

My second favorite is Beyond the Beyond. No way to explain it. It is just amazing.

I've been meaning to get Star Ocean 3 for some time now. Even if i am a Sakuraba fan, ive been hearing mixed results for the OST (like GoldfishX's opinion on Chudah's Corner). I feel Sakuraba put his heart and soul into Baten Kaitos. Its a work of art! But then again the best battle themes are on SO3 (like Highbrow)

What about Shining The Holy Ark? Thats meant to be more groundbreaking than Beyond the Beyond

I prefer Beyond the Beyond. However Shining the Holy Ark also have nice stuff, especially insane keyboard moments (like typical Sakuraba, but even crazier!). I love the second track.

By the way there are some crappy tracks in SO3 (only Vol.2, disc 1) but the rest is so powerful and beautiful that you can forget them...

Same goes with Baten Kaitos. The battle tracks are among his greatest ever made (Violent Storm, The true mirror, Vitrolic A Stroke and Chaotic Dance anyone?). But Highbrow...WOW! 10 minute masterpiece!

It's really tough to decide which is better to me. Baten Kaitos seems to have more melody driven music, and I really like it. And then Star Ocean 3 has very layered music and I also love it. But since i haven't really played throughout the whole game of BK *cough* I can relate easier to SO3s ost. But... I still want both of their Soundtracks :p.
