This person who was known as "Mari" has done music for games like the Super NES/Super Famicom version of Area 88 (UN Squadron), Chohmakaimura (Super Ghouls N Ghosts), Rockman 5:Blues no Wana! (Mega Man 5), and some others I can't think of at the moment. Does anybody know which Capcom composer used this handle? Was it Yoko Shimomura when she was still with the company?
You've probably already visited the japanese "Game Music Composer List" given the info you've stated, but unfortunately I don't have anything else to add in terms of the identity...

They still have MARI listed in the 'unknown' section along with those SFC games you mentioned, and that page is pretty accurate on everything else, so that would be the place to go for the real name. (if anyone knew it that is...)

I didn't even know about that place. How do I get around? The whole site is in japanese.
Even without knowing Japanese you can still get the basics down...
There is a search box in the middle of the page if you scroll down a little bit on the main page, so that's where you can enter in either the composers Name, or their Nickname, or the title of the game you want to find out who composed it.
So in your case we'd type "Mari" into the searchbox, or keywords such as "SFC Area 88" to get our result.
Since the real name for Mari is still unidentified, the results take us to the page with the 'unknown' composers, but this is still handy because scrolling down we see it lists all the game titles which Mari has worked on!
Now if you want to use the "regular navigation" instead of the search, then look at the characters on the fixed left-hand frame of the screen.
(Those are the alphabet characters)
When you hold your mouse over one of those characters, look down in your browser's "status bar" to see what the destination page would be, and it shows the corresponding English alphabet letter!
On the 2nd row of characters you see: Ka, Ki, Ku, Ke, Ko
On the 3rd row of characters you see: Sa, Si, Su, Se, So
So if you're looking for someone named "Kikuta" you'd click the "ki" character, etc.. But since his name is listed in Japanese, it's a little easier to just search the page for SFC Seiken Densetsu 2 (also in JP characters, but you can copy/paste those for other places to use in a search)

I can't find the search engine. Also I don't see any pictures over there.
