Hey people.. I recently got my neck cut..
I sent in a demo CD to a game company which I wont name because Im not a bad advertiser hehe
But they said they loved my music!..
And said I had exeptional talent, but I was too young..............

Whats that?!?!..
Can anyone tell me.. thats the biggest load of ******** I ever heard, I mean, they obviously dont think of the best for their company, but how long history I have, I mean, when can a new-comer start, when he is half dead?!..
I say the younger the better, because a young person can stay longer and if a younger person have fresh ideas and can make projects shine in a unique way.. why cut off something like that because of "a not standard age"

Im 19 by the way, is that too young.. hmph.. Im angry, and My flame is burning even more because of ***** things like this.. geez!

What I hate in vide game industry is the requirements. In Montréal, Ubisoft and EA already has posted some job offers on websites like monster.ca or jobboom.ca, it goes like "10 years of experience, at least participate to 3 games" WHAT?! How can we start in the industry if all they ask can only apply to the one already in it?? They don,t know what they're missing.

Yeah, you said it man, It makes me go nuts, to be totally honest, We need some new companies.. if they think all the veterans are the only one to rely on, their messing up pretty often, I heard that often they look into the papers of a person before they listen to the music, if they see that the papers arent too good, they dont give a **** about the music.. hmph.. talk about being black and white

Were you applying for a specific position when sending in your demo? I would say at your age, it would be difficult to get a position at a company unless you were applying for an internship. Usually the 2-10 years of experience required comes from those who either have the experience or those that started from scratch and worked there way up for however many years at the company. Most people will have to start from the bottom and work there way up unless you had exceptional talent that surpasses the veterans that currently work in the industry. I'm not doubting your talent, but it isn't a surprise that your age played a factor to not get the job. Best of luck to you though. There are always other companies out there. :)

If one wants to start writing music for games, what would be the best way to start? In other words, if I, having minimal credentials other than my music, want to get a job for X company writing music, what steps should I take?

I have also wanted to find a way to get into the VGM composing business, but to be honest, I've not the slightest clue about how to begin. It does seem as if the experience and education requirements are rather steep.
