Well, after seeing the PSP details in internet, i'm thinking about this new system. It would be called a GBA killer?!?
DETAILS:
On the whole the PSP will have a MIPS 32-bit R4000 processor powered with technologies that are similar to Intel SSE 2 and PowerPC AltiVec and even surpass them. The core will be equipped with 8 MB of on-chip system memory; it will operate at 333 MHz and have a 2.6 Gbit/sec bus bandwidth. The second MIPS R4000 core with 2 MB of on-chip system memory will handle media functions.
The device will also sport two graphics processing units running at 166 MHz. Both of them will feature 2 MB of memory, a 256-bit bus intended for advanced 3D rendering. This graphics subsystem will be able to cope with 664 million pixels per second in True color and process 33 million polygons with transformation and light effects applied.
Playstation Portable will support Dolby 7.1; MP3, AAC, ATRAC3 and MPEG4 playback. The unique dual layer 1.8 GB Universal Media Disc (UMD) will house either two hours of video at DVD quality or four hours at ôstandardö quality. All this will be displayed on a 480 x 272 pixel LCD, 4.5 inches in diagonal, which uses the 16:9 letterbox ratio.
PSP will sport built-in 802.11b WiFi wireless connectivity and thus offer great multiplayer gaming possibilities. I/O and connectivity options are represented with the USB 2.0, Memory Stick slot, and IrDA.
Ken Kutaragi has mentioned the company is planning to release several PSP models with various combinations of features on board. However, device specifications can suffer some changes before the product arrives to the market.
Sony states its PSP will be available in about a year for the approximate price of $60.
PSP probably will have more power that GBA, but i doubt of this price! Is too low for something so high tech.
