I heard awhile ago that Mr. Mitsuda was intent on releasing a Chrono Cross Arranged Album sometime this Summer.
Has anyone else heard more about this, or can confirm it?
I myself am certainly excited about the prospects of a Chrono Cross Arranged Album, it is definitely one of my most favorite soundtracks of all time!
I always like Arrange Albums because, even if I didn't like the original version of the song used in the game, the composer re-arranges it more out-of-context of the game, and into more their own style, so it sounds more natural.
What tracks do you know he's arranging for this album, or wish he'd arrange for this album?
I myself don't really mind what he's going to do, because I know one way or another, it'll be great! I only wish it'd be a full album of music, with many arrangements.

I'd like to hear the arranged versions of Chrono Cross music as well. The soundtrack to Chrono Cross seemed to sound more open, and more like there was a lot more creative freedom involved. This soundtrack resembled the style of some of his arranged albums, too.

There's actually been an update at procyon-studio.com mentioning the release date of BOTH the Chrono Cross OST and Chrono Cross Arrange Album. The two have a release date for June 29, 2005. Hope that helps.
I really look forward to both releases and wouldn't mind which tracks are featured on the arrange album as they are all memorable tunes. :)

It's an official annoucement, not to mention you said yourself it's being released by Sleigh Bells on another post. I don't see how "it's not the Chrono Cross Arrange Album" that's also being released.
Hmmm, I guess I was mistaken. Thanks for clearing that up KujaFFman. Maybe I assumed it was the arrange album because I've been eagerly awaiting for it as many of us are. :D

We will have "Kirite" in may (18), so it won't be a problem to wait. Kirite is an original album composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, but Chrono series' scenario writer Masato Kato also participed to the project.
Speaking of Kirite:

I am very looking forward to this as much as the Chrono Cross Arrange Album. :D

Yes, I've heard about that.
Listening to the samples, it seems they're incorporating a lot of vocals.
It's going to be a "lullaby" album of sorts, from what I can tell.

With July coming to an end, is it safe to assume the Chrono Cross arranged album has been put on hold or is not happening at all? I'd be very interested to hear the official take on this album, since I haven't heard anything for months about it. Thanks!

I'd imagine it'll be a Christmas release. (at least I'm hoping for it to be)

This's very interesting to hear of.
If this is actually going to happen, I wonder who is going to compose it?
Yasunori Mitsuda himself? Mitsuda and maybe some other musicians? Or some other musician(s) without Mitsuda?
I hope this arrange album takes Chrono Cross's tropical themes a step higher.
I hope these tracks will be arranged:
"Home World ~ Fields of Time"
"Another World ~ Dream of Another Shore"
"Arni Village"
"Guldove"
"Marbule"
"Frozen Flame"
"Radical Dreamer"
"Star-Stealing Girl"
"Island of the Dead" (I liked the occult feeling of this in the original track. I wonder if it can be made to sound even creepier than it already does?)
"Ancient Dragon Stronghold" (I hope this one will be orchestrated; improved instrumentation on the original, if you will. The organs, piano, strings...I can just hear it! It would be spectacular!)
Anymore news on this would be good.

Seriously, is this REALLY going to happen? I mean, is this album EVER going to be released, or was it just some rumor that someone blew out of proportion?
Should I just get the Chrono Cross soundtrack, or is there really going to be an arrange album I should wait for?

Well, it was announced on Mitsuda's official Japanese website, so it definitely isn't a rumor.
If you haven't got the Original Soundtrack yet, you should consider buying it as it is one of his strongest works. I imagine that the release shouldn't be too far away, but I am eagerly waiting for its re-announcement.

WELL, I've heard the original soundtrack straight from the game. Heck, I'm on my third playthrough of Chrono Cross right now!
I used to have a copy of the soundtrack, until I found out it was a bootleg.
I don't really feel like buying the soundtrack all over again, just for a legit copy, especially when there's an arrange album looming around the corner. After all, my general rule is often: arrange album > original soundtrack.
However, I am finding myself liking the original soundtrack even more than I used to. Even compositions that I originally dreaded, I can listen to now: "Reminiscence," "Singing Emotions," "Quitting the Body," "Pathetic," "Beginning of the Dream," "Splendid Magic Group," "S.S. Zelbess," "Dilemma," "Optimism," "People Imprisoned by Destiny," "Lost before the Light" ... there are just a lot of compositions that I like much more than I used to.
Ahh *sigh* I guess I kind of DO want the original soundtrack...
Well, if you're searching the original you might as well go for the LE version? Just for collection! Yahoo Japan all the way! XD
Can't wait for this arrangement to be out... (Does Mitsuda have to have the OK from Square Soft ...or er, Square-Enix, to release this album?)

I agree it is enjoyable, yet I wouldn't compare it to Xenogears Creid, which is his typical celtic hug.
Great part of the celtic's music power is due to it's spirituality and direct input of emotions. I guess jazz serves as smooth feeling pill. And since jazz is all about improvisations, you can sometimes hear some strange melodic or rythmitic changes. Anyways jazz is good. Not near as celtic music but at least good.

Hey, I resent that remark! But, one can still admit Mitsuda has tried jazz time an time again, and it's time he did something different. Personally, I hope the Chrono Cross Arrange Album will have a very tropical flavor to it, given the background from the game.
And, Mitsuda's done enough Celtic! Why, if you want more Mitsuda Celtic, check out Kirite! I think I've already gotten my fix of Mitsuda Celtic, and he better try something new, otherwise he's going to start getting stale.

Chrono Trigger ~ Brink of Time was acid jazz, not smooth jazz!
Smooth jazz is that easy-listening type stuff they play on the radio.
Brink of Time was far too rockin' to be mistaken for smooth jazz!
Unless of course you were simply joking.
Please tell me you were joking!

I knew it's not smooth jazz, though I wouldn't call it plain Acid either. It is a combination of all forms of jazz.

It's a form of musical style consisting of mostly calming, soothing and festive music. Mainly associated in Ireland, it is also played throughout the world.
Hope that helps ;)
Talking about Mitsuda, he has recently responded to my interview found here (http://www.squaresound.com/interviews/mitsuda.html).
It should give you up-to-date information regarding his latest albums and works.

Celtic music comes from Celtic regions of the world, that is to say Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall (south-west of England), Brittany (far west of France) and Galicia (north-west of Spain). Celtic culture was born in the eastern part of Europe, then moved to the far western one many centuries ago. The type of music produced in these regions is, as Fatigue explained, calm or festive tunes. Most of them are dances, but some of them also sounds like military marches (they are called "bagad"). Since one of two centuries, this kind of music spread all around the world and became very famous thanks to some bands, but also, for example, the soundtracks of "Braveheart" or "Titanic" (by James Horner). Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda were the first VGM composer to introduce Celtic music in their creations, a decade ago.
And, will you believe it?, I am from Celtic origin myself!

"Radical Dreamers" only has a guitar as the instrument. There are no bird noises in it.
Hope this helps :)

This may be a little bit out there, but I think a "guitar collections" (like the Final Fantasy Piano Collections cds) would be absolutely perfect for Chrono Cross.
Waiting for the arranged Chrono Cross album has been hard, but I remember how long it took for a FF7 piano collections cd.

Those sounds you hear are the noises a player makes when he slides his hand over the fret of a guitar when changing chords.

In regards to Brink of Time, it definitely goes down smooth, whatever the hell its classification is!

Personaly, I feel like the Chrono Cross OST was an arranged soundtrack in itself. Live instruments (or at least, the slidding of the fingers on the strings gave me that impression) and the sound quality is just amazing.
I'd prefer a few medley tracks of CC instead of a whole album. Maybe 6-9 7minute tunes. After listening to the 'Melodies of White FFTA' soundtrack I'm a little more weary of arranged soundtracks.
BTW, if you like the CC ost, have you listened to the Panzer Dragoon Azel OST? It's a little more unconventional to CC but it might be something to fill the gap until someone with intelligence comes up with an arranged CC soundtrack.

The Chrono Cross Arrange album is still in work, Mr. Mitsuda just postponed it after Kirite since he felt doing multiple projects at the same time would not do justice to works like these.
