I have just received my copy of Final Fantasy X-2 OST Limited Edition and it is sure quite a bit different from what are used to hear from a Final Fantasy soundtrack. The Techno/Jazz beat is enjoyable and Real Emotion sounds really pop japanese. Final Fantasy X-2 Original Soundtrack is the first Final Fantasy soundtrack to be published by Avex and Nobuo Uematsu didn't work on this one. The composition is by Noriko Matsueda and Takahito Eguchi and it surely gives to the music of Final Fantasy a new style !
I liked the Final Fantasy X OST because it was different and the new one is no exception. I have still to listen to the second disc now but right now I really like what I have heard.
It's easier to handle this album if you mentally remove the notion of "final fantasy' because it's so different from what we are used to hearing when that title is attached.
If you don't think of it as an FF album, it's semi-enjoyable by itself, but there's still plenty of other great albums I'd buy first...
It is unique though, and did try something new, so I can't knock it for that.

No offence to the OST at all, but out of what I've heard from it, it sounds like elevator music... Not my favorite style of music imo.

Have to agree that the soundtrack doesn't do justice for me at all. The only song I like is Eternity, the first song on the soundtrack with the beautiful piano. Other than that, no thanks. I must add that the battle themes (in my opinion) are a joke. Oh well...

It has good sound quality and some of the music is terrifying. It's definitely better than Crystal Chronicles.

I dont think so, FF crystal chronicles is good in my opinion, both albums are a change from the regualar style of Final Fantasy music, though I like all the FF albums, Uematsu certainly loves his strings, the FF crystal chronicles was a refreshing change. Personally I dislike Techno/pop in general so FFX-2 did nothing for me, I liked some tracks like Eternity, but Real Emotion just annoyed me. I dont dislike all pop music, the Yuna Vocal Collection I quite liked but Rikku and Paine I thought were crap. Just my personal opinion on the new FF music

I really enjoy FFX2's soundtrack.
Besaid Island, Zanarkand Ruins, and The Calm Lands are just amazing.
The pianos in those songs really opens up a new world in the game! :)
