CocoeBiz is conducting an informal poll to see which game music soundtracks CocoeBiz should try to convince Japanese publishers to release. The soundtrack must not have been published in the past. So, if a game music album was published in 1991, then sadly, it's not eligible.

You must be a registered user here to vote or to make a write-in.

Please note that any vote you make should be considered a willingness to buy the album if published. Thus, take the vote seriously.

Also, if you haven't taken the survey, please go here:
http://www.cocoebiz.com/survey/index.php.

The following ideas were already on the survey, so don't put them here:
Devil May Cry 1 OST
Devil May Cry 2 OST
Grandia Piano Collection
Grandia and Langrisser Battle Tracks
Rockman X-X3 OST Collection
Rockman X4-X6 OST Collection
Rockman Zero OST

Staying within the wonderful world of Capcom:

Rockman 7-8-Rockman and Forte Collection
Rockman Dash 2
Misadventures of Tron Bonne
Rockman 1-5 Gameboy Collection
Any Rockman Arranged Albums

Super Buster Brothers (also known as Super Pang, I believe)
Breath of Fire III-Missing tracks
Street Fighter 3-Third Strike-Dreamcast Version
Street Fighter Alpha 2-Playstation Version
Marvel vs Capcom 2

Man, all of these are ones that I wouldn't think twice about grabbing.

Definately a release for Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis (GBA) soundtrack.

All the other Ogre Battle albums have soundtracks, and other GBA albums have soundtracks (for example, FFTA), so I was horridly surprised when this one didn't seen to be getting a release.

I know that this isn't Capcom, nor even in the realm of Kahori, but it would really be nice, anyhow.

Here are a few I'd like to see (I'm not really sure if they have had soundtracks published, but I couldn't find anything about them at GMR). Original soundtrack or arranged version, it matters not:

Karnov
Magic of Scheherezade
Battle of Olympus
Langrisser IV

and, of course, a Super Smash Bros. DX OST would be AWFULLY nice...

I'd like to see the following games have arrange albums released:

Castlevania III
Castlevania IV
Contra, Super Contra, Contra III
Faxanadu
Rygar

I'd also like to see a "full version" come out for Turok Dinosaur Hunter, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Blast Corps, Spider, and Tetrisphere. A "full version" would contain the music that existed before it had to be compressed to fit in the game. It, of course, sounds much more full.

Numerous other games would benefit from full versions coming out, especially the Final Fantasy games.

As for current games, I'm not that interested. (because I hardly play them)

Well, these 2 fairly recent games do deserve a soundtrack release:

Yes, full orchestra Lunar....or Grandia for that matter....would be nice. Or possibly a well arranged piano CD (one with ONLY piano!) of Lunar and/or Grandia music.

I'd also LOVE to see that one track in Grandia that's not on the OST -- from the Mermaid Island area.

Mr. Iwadare doesn't have much control over Lunar music. Due to contractual obligations, that music is owned by Game Arts.

[I already posted this in the "Game Music Discussion" forum but it may be more related here. :)]

A soundtrack that i woud LOVE to see released on CD is from the PC Engine game Magical Chase.
Certainly the best soundtrack of the PC Engine (in HuCards category ), the second best being Soldier Blade for me 8).

Also as reprint i would love to see a Bare Knuckle 1-3 box. :D

How about the soundtrack to the very first Breath of Fire game? There are already soundtracks for Breath of Fire II - V, but never one for the first one.

I would also recommend making it include music from BOF I and BOF II because the soundtrack to BOF II did not include all of the songs in the game (like the Church theme or the theme played underground where you can talk to Ganer and move your town).

I'll second that. The original Breath of Fire was a great game and the music was just as good. I still like the tune that plays when Gobi transforms, The Alan and Cerl theme is great, and I love the tune that plays near the beginning of the game, when Sarah is captured.

I wasn't too fond of Breath of Fire II, though. I thought some of the scenes in that game were way too long, and the battle frequency was just ridiculous near the end. I'd still like to get a full soundtrack, though. The current OST is, as you stated, incomplete (and out of print).

No original soundtrack was released for any of the Gargoyle's Quest games that I'm aware of, but there's a very disappointing arrange album for the first game. If there were OSTs to the three GQ games, I'd buy them in a heartbeat.

Yasourni Mitsuda have great songs in Chrono Cross!
My favorites are Orphanage of Flames and Omni Dragon Battle.
He should make an arrange album for Chrono Cross like as for Chrono Trigger: Brink of Time. But it should be better than Brink of Time 'cause it's all jazz, techno, and funk and only some are enjoying. :D

Also an arranged soundtrack for FF Tactics.

Soundtracks I want to see released (Previously unreleased, to the best of my knowledge):

1. Kishin Korinden ONI for the Super Famicom
2. Bakumatsu Korinden ONI 2 for the Super Famicom
3. Horai Gakuen no Bouken! - Tenkousei Scramble for the Super Famicom **** (This above all else)
4. Radical Dreamers for the SatellaView (Despite its similarity to Chrono Cross, I want one).
5. Solid Runner for the Super Famicom

I would pay upwards of $100.00-$150.00 for each of those soundtracks (it's not like I haven't spent that much before.....) if they came to be. So my interest would definitely be piqued. Just letting you know...

I would like to see a Shining force 3 FULL soundtrack with the in game music by motoi sakuraba. There is only an arranged soundtrack available at the moment.

I would also like to see a golden sun soundtrack, arranged or otherwise.

I am sure I will think of more later, too... =\

I would love to see an official release for Hiouden: Maou Tachi tono Chikai (SFC 1994) composed mostly by Motoi Sakuraba (that game has quite some hidden goodies giving me the impression all of the game staff had a lot of fun making that game ^^). Seeing how Star Ocean (SFC 1996) finally gets a soundtrack Hiouden should be possible as well, shouldn't it? ;)

Furthermore it would be nice to have a real Fire Emblem 7: Blazing Sword soundtrack, it's the only Fire Emblem game which didn't get a soundtrack so far which is surprising since I saw it being requested on the official Japanese FE board and I consider it being the composer Yuka Tsujiyoko's finest work so far.

I just got the Rockman Zero Remastered Tracks and it is AWESOME. I would like to see one of these for Rockman Zero 2. My only complaint is that there aren't music-only tracks of the drama tracks, such as the Sages's theme song.
I would like to see the other Rockman soundtracks, especially RM7, Gameboy RM1-5, and Rockman & Forte. Also the arranged soundtracks from the original RM1-6 that were released on PSX and will be re-released in the upcoming Rockman Anniversary Collection for GC and PS2.
Here are a list of other soundtracks I'd like to see:
GBA-Both Golden Sun games (also orchestral arrangements)
GameBoy Zelda games (Link's Awakening and the Oracles of Ages & Seasons).
GCN-Super Mario Sunshine
GCN-Star Fox Adventures
GBA-Metroid Zero Mission
Also more complete soundtracks to various games such as Paper Mario (which easily should have been 3 CDs. It annoys the heck out of me when I buy a soundtrack and my favorite songs are missing!) I was also disappointed with the Rockman X1-6 soundtracks as there were songs missing, and some even had SFX playing during the music!
I'm looking forward to the Famicom 20th Anniversary CDs as well. Make sure one of those includes Nintendo's Tetris! (The version where if you beat Type-B LV9 you see Samus and Bowser playing music and Mario dancing.)

One game I was very disappointed to discover had no albums is Tail Concerto for PlayStation. Since the game is rather short (but extremely enjoyable), a soundtrack would be the perfect thing to give the experience some longevity. Since the .hack series (created by the same developers) has seen a lot of success, perhaps I'm not the only one who would like to see some albums of their lesser known titles.

Personally, I'd be more interested in seeing some more re-releases, though. It's ridiculous how expensive many older albums get. Many Sakuraba albums could use re-releases as well as lots of soundtracks for older Nintendo, Square, and Enix titles (I'd love to see the Wonder Project J albums re-released). While not a re-release, I'm very happy to see this new Star Ocean OST being released. I'd love to see more of this happen - old games getting a new OST when only an AST was previously available (or vice versa).

Hello there. First post here on this forum, but I've been a fan of the site for a good amount of time (six months or so). but anyway.

The game that, more than any other, I have always felt needed a soundtrack was Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon (American name, not familiar with the Japanese one. I assume it was Ganbare Goemon something.), on the Nintendo 64. That game has an excellent soundtrack, and I for one would definitely like to see it in CD form.

I think in honor of the Mega Man Anniversary Collection just released for PS2/GCN, there should be some CDs of this music (mainly the remixes to MM1-6). Maybe also re-releases of the Power Battles/Power Fighters music. Or a multi-disc box set containing all of the music. (like the 5CD Rockman X1-X6)

That's a great idea, but back to reality... I never gave hope to that.
If there's miracle, I wish that not only FFT,
but all 3 three basiscape composers choose their best pieces
to do the full orchestrated re-arrangement and release a CD.
If the budget is limited, I accept the midi sample recording,
listening to their scores is already worth for everything.

p.s. it's a shame that FF concert never gave chance to FFT...

If you ever bring the old Dragon Ball Z game (RPG/Famicom) soundtracks I'll buy them for sure. There are DBZ I (last boss being Vegeta), II (Freeza), III (Cell), and then there is DBZ Gaiden. I'm pretty sure you know which games I'm talking about if you have played them before. I especially LOVED the music from part III and Gaiden. Whether you like DBZ or not, any old school game music listener will love it.

And the soundtrack for "SD Gundam Gaiden: Knight Gundam Story III" (RPG/Famicom) will be cool too! It has the nicest sleep music I ever heard in RPG. Of course other music were also cool. These are all super rare games as of today which makes them even more valuable.

And finally, any Rockman soundtracks are always welcome!

I believe an offical printing of the Disgaea ~ Hour of Darkness original soundtrack is in order.
I do know that limited editions of the game came with a soundtrack, but that's not fair for the rest of us!

I believe the game has made itself popular enough for even a limited printing of the soundtrack to be profitable.

There has been an arrange album, so why not a printing of the original soundtrack?
Speaking of which, it would be advisable for Cocoebiz to carry the Disgaea arrange album as well!

Also, Tetris Attack for SNES would be awesome...

I concur. But not just a disc with the music; either re-done with better samples and/or live performances (I would especially love to hear some of the ending themes on real guitars), or an all-out rearranged album.

Other soundtracks I'd like REPRINTED:

Breath of Fire III (the WHOLE soundtrack this time; it should end up as at least a double-disc set!!)

Final Fantasy Tactics (the ORIGINAL Final Fantasy Tactics, on the Playstation).

Soundtracks that were never printed, but should've been printed:

Dual Hearts (Playstation 2); sure, it belongs to a rather obscure game that was never really popular in the U.S., but if you market it properly, I'm sure it'll fly off the shelves! It's music reminiscent of say, the Legend of Zelda or Dark Cloud series, very new age-styled.

Brandish 2: The Planet Buster (Super Famicom OST)

I second that Opinion!! I've put in over one hundred hours in that game and I'm still not tired of ALL the music, some tracks however, have bored me into submission after listening to them about 100 times for 6 minutes apiece just b/c I was levelling up. There needs to be an official print of the Castlevania ~ Lament of Innocence soundtrack.

The game did receive a music sampler album, but that was only available with pre-orders of the game in the U.S., and it didn't even include all of the tracks from the game.

If a consumer market print of the Castlevania ~ Lament of Innocence soundtrack was made, I would most definitely buy it.

Breath of Fire (but only a Super Famicom version, not GBA...)

I'm going to Bumb this thread (even though its a sticky :p)

How about reprinting Motoi Sakuraba's Masterpiece's of Beyond the Beyond and Shining The Holy Ark. Everybody that owns these albums these days had to pay alot of money for them, but for the everybody who doesn't want to pay $250 I think the right solution is to reprint it. I think even Sakuraba would appreciate it, considering that Shining The Holy Ark is Sakuraba's best arranged album followed closely by Beyond the Beyond. But any Sakuraba fan would also like Golden Sun Original Soundtrack printed. Kahori, could you please tell Sakuraba that his work is the definition of amazing.

Guardian Recall (released for JP PS)
- I'm very close to ripping this from the game when I figure out how to do it on my computer..

Beyond the Beyond (release for PS)
- I liked this soundtrack, even though the game was kinda hard, but it got easier when I rubberbanded the turbo button on my controller. The Knight's theme is nice.

Super Robot Wars: Lord of the Elemental (released for SF)
- I love the intro song. I think this SRW is the only series of it's kinda that doesn't feature 'mechs' from other anime series or video games.

I’ve condensed everyone’s input into one single list, with categories underlined: “Desired Soundtracks,” “Desired General Arrange Albums,” “Desired Orchestral Arrange Albums,” and “Desired Soundtrack Re-Prints.”

I’ve given the title of the album, or the game from which the music came, followed by additional notes in parentheses.

To easily point out the game or album which it is desired for a soundtrack or soundtrack reprint to be made,

For desired soundtrack re-prints, I’ve given the catalogue number of the original print if it was provided,

GBA: Gameboy Advance
GCN: Gamecube (Nintendo)
N64: Nintendo 64
NES: Nintendo Entertainment System / The Original Famicom
PSX: Playstation
PS2: Playstation 2
SNES: Super Nintendo Entertainment System / Super Famicom

For others, there are special notes bolded.

For games/albums which went by different names between Japan and the U.S., I put both titles, with the two different titles separated by slashes (/).

You could leave the first post in thread, giving directions, and then my post with the running list, and scrap all else in between.

And please, people, check the list to see if it's there already before you give me your input!

Hello GenG!

Welcome to the Cocoebiz/Vgmworld forum, nice to meet another videogame music fan from Spain. The item that you see in Nintendo Japan website is not the complete soundtrack for Fuuin no tsurugi and Rekka no ken, is a book devoted to the characters from both games.
The book comes with a special soundtrack CD with 60 music tracks, but is not worth because the lenght of the tracks is too short (00:50 sec, 01:15 min...), only the last track is a lenghty track.

Like always, Dragon God has it right. When you click on the 'Buy Now' button, it says 11.900 yen (or, correctly, 11,900 yen). Rain, you're thinking that it means something like $11.9, when in fact, the Japanese yen equivalent is more on the lines of 1,365 yen. Tactics Ogre ~ Let Us Cling Together is $107, and that's no surprise to me. Like DG said, most OOP SNES Soundtracks go for around the $60+ price range, and it so happens to be that TO is an especially rare gem. :)

Umm.... it does say 107 $ USD on the page.. and ... Welcome to the Internet <.< (Old Snes Album like TO are known to be expensive, get used to it.)

Ummm...thank you. Perhaps my heart was overriding my brain on this one...I was oh so hoping I would be able to afford this soundtrack. (not at the moment I am afraid.)

btw, thanks for welcoming me to your kingdom. ;)

Tenchu: Stealth Assassins (because the version released missed out all of the best god damn tracks in the game including the training level' and Onikage' music >.< )

Sonic CD - with music from the past and future as well as the present.

Nippon Ichi games' soundtracks - La Pucelle, Disgaea, Phantom Brave, etc. People shouldn't have to fork out over £100 to get the limited edition games to get the soundtracks.

Tomb Raider - I don't think the first one ever got a soundtrack, even though the music is the best and Lara' voice the sexiest in the original.

Broken Sword - the first game has excellent music.

All Discworld games.

Max Payne 1 + 2

Grim Fandango - the original soundtrack only got a very limited release and had hardly any of the tracks. Fit em all on 2-3 discs in a new addition! Luvly jubly!

Resident Evil/ Biohazard (PSX) - I have the Biohazard album but half of the tracks are arranged (including the astonishing music in the save room 'Peace Of Mind'. The CD also got a very limited release. Rerelease it damn it, with no voices and no arranges grrrrr!

Street Fighter EX plus Alpha - I need to get this OST. Apparently it exists but not much proof of that. Capcom are really bad when it comes to game soundtracks, it seems.

It's on the Street Fighter EX2 OST.

I would love to see a soundtrack containing the songs of these two Castlevania games (the only ones that haven't got one already):

Castlevania Legends / Akumajo Dracula: Dark Night Prelude (GBC)

Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness / Akumajo Dracula Mokushiroku Gaiden: Legend of Cornell (N64)

Keeping in mind that some songs used in Legacy of Darkness can be found in the Castlevania 64 soundtrack, all the songs of these two games should fit in a single CD.

That would be more than great, I'd be buying two copies at least!

This online store rules (if you have money, that is)!

To add to the boxset fever..

Phantasy Star Complete Collection / Complete original soundtracks for the original Phantasy Star series, though this time around it would include the PS IV OST and the PS I-PS III OSTs would have individual tracks within each OST.

Shining Force Complete Collection / Complete original soundtracks for Shining Force I-III and possibly some of the other OSTs that were related to the Shining series.

Fire Emblem Complete Collection / Complete original soundtracks for the Fire Emblem series, which should include one for Path of Radiance.

As always, I love Yoko Shimomura's works and would love to own the soundtrack to Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. On a similar note, an OST to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (Mario Story 2) would be nice, too.

while we're at it, why not a complete "Mario RPGs" collection, that would includes Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario 1 & 2, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga and Mario & Luigi Partners in Time... For a complete soundtrack for Paper Mario 2, it would take a couple on discs, though...

Technic Beat by Sampling Masters!

This is from conversation with Megahan.
We pray for release, too. Release is entrusted to a thought of NAMCO of an origin of copyright.
Release is not possible without getting consent of NAMCO. We are kept waiting endlessly.

I didn't ask if the "We" means SM or Sweep... It sounds like Sweep is hoping to be able to release it.

If Cocoebiz decides to try to rescue this soundtrack, perhaps Mr. Hosoe should be contacted first to have the situation explained and hear about Sweep's eventual role in that?

Oh and Xenosaga Episode II In-Game music by Hosoe would be great too!! That music is very nice and a nice flash from his older charming romantic style! :)

In any case, awesome, totally chivalrous thread! :) Good luck with any and all soundtracks you try to rescue!!
